We used Five ...This is one of my favorite stories. We used Five in a Row (FIAR) several years ago, when my oldest was in 2nd grade and we did most of the things you mentioned with this book. I loved it so much that I was sure to use it in the FIAR class I taught at our co-op and we made lapbooks that the kids (and parents) still talk about.
